Something old.  Something new.

The story of The Haralson House
Built in the 1840s, The Haralson House has stood majestically for over 150 years in the small town of Blairsville, Georgia.  However, the farm she now comfortably occupies wasn't always her home. The house originally stood just off Blairsville's downtown square.

In 1996, Janice Kelley Gratton heard through the grapevine that the house was in danger of being torn down.  Now Janice, who had worked for the city for some time, happens to be a self-proclaimed "visionary" and has a knack for getting her way.

"Big Jan" as her daughter-in-law fondly calls her, said, "No way, no how" to the city of Blairsville and claimed The Haralson House as her own.  Soon, the mighty Haralson House was be taken apart and trasported down Blairsville's only four-lane road to Janice's farm.

It was a perfect fit.  The vision for The Haralson House began to take shape over the next couple years and "Tara in the Mountains" was born.

Today, the house is completely restored.  The hardwood floors, windows, and ligth fixtures are original.  Full of antiques and a warm welcome for all guests, The Haralson House is better than ever.

Experience a piece of history. Experience The Haralson House.

Dear Guest,

My "Haralson House motto" is a line from the movie Under the Tuscan Sun, "Go slowly, be polite, and let the house introduce itself to you."

When you visit, you'll see old wavy glass window panes, hardwood floors marked with memories, and huge oak trees ready to swing laughing children in their branches. You'll feel blessed to be a part of this piece of history.

Your hosts, Matthew and Katie, (that's us on the right) are committed to each event as if it were our very own. We look forward to sharing The Haralson House with you.
